OUR STORYHow We Started — Hospitality Network (HN) launched in 1982 installing satellite antennas in hotels, offering current hit movies and adult-oriented programming. Through a series of acquisitions and mergers over the next 10 years, HN moved to Las Vegas and became focused primarily on gaming properties, particularly those in Nevada and other U.S. gaming jurisdictions. The first gaming hotels they contracted with were Bally’s and the Las Vegas Hilton in 1988, where they provided pay-per-view Hollywood hit movies and adult programming. In 1995 HN went international when they signed long-term agreements with four gaming resorts in the Bahamas.Joining Cox Communications — Hospitality Network was purchased by Cox Communications in 1998. Two years later HN formed a strategic partnership with SeaChange, a supplier of advanced digital VOD hardware and software. The SeaChange system enables guests to choose from a wide variety of services, including VOD, Music-On-Demand, interactive games, Internet on TV, e-mail, folio review, in-room checkout, food ordering, hotel information and guest survey. The new Aladdin in Las Vegas was the first installation in August 2000. In addition, Hospitality Network partnered with nStreams, a customized hardware and software solution more suited for smaller hotels. By 2002 Hospitality Network installed its 120,000th hotel room and partnered with its 100th hotel. That same year, their first wired high-speed Internet installation was completed at Claridge Atlantic City. The following year, HN installed the first Wi-Fi high-speed Internet network at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Hospitality Network became an affiliate company of Cox Business in 2004, enabling a unified group to offer a complete package of telecommunications products to the entire hospitality sector. Hospitality Network was Awarded First Place in the 2004 CTAM Commercial Services Technology Case Study Competition for launch of wired and wireless Internet networks in the world’s largest hotels. Where We Stand — Cox Communications is now the third-largest cable entertainment and broadband services provider in the country. Cox has received the highest honor in the J.D. Power and Associates Major Provider Business Telecommunications Services Study-DataSM multiple times for “Highest Customer Satisfaction among Small/Midsize Business Data Service Providers” in the nation, first in 2006 and most recently in 2008. Hospitality Network remains a strong branch of Cox Communications and continues to provide advanced in-room video-on-demand, cable, and high-speed Internet services to the majority of the largest gaming hotels in the world. |
